Jesse Kendal is a Melbourne based artist and musician, blending live acoustic instrument recordings with electronic elements to encapsulate a sound that embodies a distinctly human aesthetic and emotionally charged flow.
Jesse crafts a melodic and ethereal musical style that blends elements of deep house and techno – drawing inspiration from artists such as George FitzGerald, Kiasmos and Bonobo. A cornerstone of his creative process revolves around exploring the intricate tones and nuances found within his improvised recordings, weaving these elements into the fabric of his work. Through his music, he seeks to uplift listeners and create an emotional resonance that fosters a sense of connection and healing – a reflection of the personal journey he embarked upon through his art.
He began releasing music under the Kendl moniker in 2017, quickly gaining recognition from prominent publications such as Huffington Post, Magnetic Magazine, Dancing Astronaut, YourEdm and Earmilk. His 2019 split-single “Ella / Manyara” not only earned rotation on Triple J Unearthed but also climbed into the Top Ten Hype Machine Popular Charts and made its way onto Spotify’s Viral 50 charts in Australia, Canada, and the US. Jesse’s work has garnered further support from major YouTube channels such as MrSuicideSheep, Ambient, SOUNDISSTYLE, and Big Beat Records. More recently, his split-single “Little Bloom/Northern Light” was premiered by Clash Music and received airplay from influential radio platforms such as BBC Radio 6, RTÉ 2FM, NPR, and RinseFM. To date, Kendal’s music has amassed over 20 million plays across various streaming platforms.
