Being fragile and sentimental is something often overlooked, especially in these fast-paced, self-exposure times. This doesn’t seem to keep Tristan de Liège from delivering his delicate, vulnerable approach in modern electronic sound, where he combines minimal melodic lines with exquisite percussive rhythms made both by found and synthesised sounds, all layered above field recordings and manipulated ambiences.
Following this mindset, Tristan delivers Refracted, his signature sample pack, where he focuses on some of the elements that make his sound so distinctively abstract and dreamy. As genuinely fascinated by the ability to take given sounds and recontextualize them in new moods and arrangements, he has embraced the art of sampling since his early days, and throughout his production over his solo works and his collaborations.
